Special Treats Cards doesn’t limit our efforts to our workshop.
Whether delivering a weekly art lesson at a local support center for adults with disabilities or teaching the ins-and-outs of card making to young adults in a high school transition program, we believe in spreading the joy of our craft.
The benefits of our outreach are two-fold as our crewmembers go from learner to teacher, helping other adults with special needs acquire the skills to use our many tools and materials. The pride they feel combined with the creative outlet they are helping to provide is rewarding for all involved.
Our Colorado Group currently has outreach programs with these wonderful organizations.
Once a week, Special Treats Cards serves as an internship site for the transition JTS Program at Dakota Ridge. Focusing on job readiness skills as much as card making, students create beautiful card products we then are lucky enough to sell to our customers.
Every week, Special Treats Cards conducts an art group for up to 24 participants at this day program for adults with disabilities. Using our wide variety of supplies, we love to see how art is both fun and therapeutic for all involved.
